This architectural feasibility study commissioned by Beliris in November 2010 explored the possibilities for the implantation of the new Arenberg Movie Theater on the former Brasserie Wielemans site. After several consultations with the persons in charge of the Arenberg Movie Theater we decided to restore the old building which housed the former offices of the breweries and bring it back to its original state. At the back of this ancient building we added the five projection rooms. We developed a public internal street between these two entities. This street will distribute the various functions which are connected to it (such as the restaurant, the bar and the shops). Under a large glass roof small footbridges are connecting one side of the building with the other side; they are linking the educational workshops with the theaters. The four cinema halls of 120 places and the large cinema hall of 400 places are piled on top of each other which create an image of interlocking volumes. By doing this we created a set of empty spaces which are dedicated to circulation and meeting spaces.
